For the Love of Friday- A Failing Grade

Friday, September 14, 2012

Okay folks.  Sadly, it is time for us to make a confession.  Some of you may remember at the beginning of summer when we made our summer bucket list.  We were so cute and naive back in those days.  But reality has set in and it is time to admit that we failed our summer bucket list.  Booooo.  We made a valiant effort and tried real hard.  But the world got going too fast for us as it often does and now we seem to have ALMOST run out of time.  Let’s review shall we?

1.  Have an outdoor game night with our friends- SUCCESS!!!!  We totally did this.

2.  Make homemade ice cream-  No way Jose.  Not even one time.  No strawberry ice cream, no raspberry ice cream, no almond ice cream.  FAIL!!!!  We did eat some homemade ice cream that someone else made.  Does that count for something??

3.  Go to a drive in movie-  We made plans to do this several times but they kept falling through.  For the record, there is one in Belmont, NC.  But we wouldn’t know what it is like because we didn’t go.  FAIL!!!!

4.  Shoot off big big fireworks in South Carolina (because they are illegal in NC)-  I am calling this a double SUCCESS because we did shoot off big big fireworks on the 4th and then again on Colleen’s birthday and we did it right here in my neighborhood without having to drive anywhere.  Take that stupid fireworks laws!

5.  Learn to play bridge- FAIL!!!!  Not even close.  The closest we came to this was playing a few crazy games of poker.  I know you guys didn’t know this about me but I am a little bit of a loose cannon when it comes to playing poker.  But definitely no bridge.

6.  Find the perfect pair of sunglasses- SUCCESS!!!!  Both Colleen and I found some sunglasses we love at Anthropologie.  They may not be super fancy and super expensive sunglasses.  But we feel more comfortable with $30 ones because then we won’t be so sad when we sit on them (which we inevitably will).

7.  Go somewhere we’ve never been-  SUCCESS!!!!  I went to Napa Valley on my trip to SF this summer, Colleen went to Dallas and both Colleen and I went to Crowder’s Mountain for the first time.

8.  Fix up our cocktail situation-  SUCCESS!!! Well, moderate success.  I still get a little flustered when it comes to ordering a cocktail.  It is so intimidating!  Colleen made her Monkey Business and it was everything she dreamed of and I figured out that I like the Frenchy.  And really probably anything with pineapple juice.

So, in conclusion, we got 5 out of 8, which is exactly 62.5%, which as we all know is exactly a F.  Boo.  So lame.  We promise we will work harder at our funness next time.

Happy Friday ya’ll!  Let’s make a promise to take this weekend and next week to try to engage in one more summery delight and finish up strong.

Labor Day Style

Monday, September 3, 2012

Happy Labor Day friends!  We are happily sleeping in and eating our fair share of Boberry Biscuits this weekend (may or may not have ordered 6 in the drive-thru last night), delighting in the last days of summer.  Meg has already started Halloweening but I thought I would give the hottest season one last hurrah with a little bit of labor day style.  Obviously I will be wearing sweats all day, but if I were in Charleston like everyone else I know (grrr), I hope that this would be the outfit I would wear.  Those shorts are $20 so you better believe I will be snatching up a pair.

Beach Ready

Thursday, August 9, 2012

So I wasn’t really planning on taking a beach trip this summer.  I was trying to be a good girl and save up all of my PTO for our big France trip next year.  Then I realized that everyone in the world was at the beach but me and started feel a little bit sorry for myself.  Everyone else was drinking mojitos and lounging poolside while I was staring at spreadsheets and writing reports.  I may have gotten a little dramatic.  I decided to quit sulking and remedy the problem with a quick trip, dragging Megan along of course.  A quick trip never hurt anyone.  I guess subconsciously I must have known this would happen because it seems that I have unknowingly been making little beach purchases throughout the summer.  A floppy hat, some new Anthro sunnies, and a J Crew suit and I am good to go.  Corey even bought me a new book to read.  Now if only I had that cover-up.

For the Love of Friday- Free

Friday, August 3, 2012

As a “yes” person, I have a slight tendency to over-commit myself.  Colleen is much the same way, although she would most likely argue that she isn’t as much of a “yes” person as I am.  This is probably true.  But whatever the case may be, we have a tendency to book our weekends up pretty far in advance.  Like around a month usually.  It is fun to have things to look forward to but is is also nice when we have a weekend with no hard and fast plans.  Such is the case with this weekend and we are pretty darn excited about it.  We are feeling foot loose and fancy free.  Big plans include some jean shopping for new jeans for fall and possibly a night out with friends along with eating delicious food (which is always on the agenda).  Appropriately, with all this talk of freedom for the weekend, we have also been celebrating the US this week in the Olympics, which has been mind-blowingly awesome.  Don’t get me started on the gymnastics or we will be here all day.  So I figure today’s post could be dedicated to some pictures that remind me of the beauty of being free.

Anyone else notice I have been having a horse obsession lately?  I don’t know where it came from but apparently I can’t help myself.

Happy free weekend to me and hopefully to the rest of you too!
