Dreaming of Amsterdam

There are about a million places that I would like to travel to, and for some reason Amsterdam has never really been at the top of my list.  Maybe it is because all I’ve heard about it is the red light district, which isn’t really my scene.  I’m more of a historic building and museum kind of gal.  After watching The Fault in our Stars, I became desperate to get there.  In between sobs (man I pretty much cried through that whole movie), I started to decide that the city would be one of my next trips.  A leisurely bike ride along some picturesque canals seems just about perfect.  Have any of you guys been?  Did you love it?

The city is amazing. I felt like I was in a nursery rhyme the whole time. The food is excellent and there is so much more to see than the red light district. You have the Van Gough museum and the Anne Frank house! Not to mention the bridges and Dam Square.

I live there so if you ever need an American tour guide! It’s quite a nice city just bring some money because it’s expensive!

Leah be careful what you say because I might take you up on that!!

Sounds good it can be our trip right after Ireland and Scotland

You will love it. I, too, tended to associate Amsterdam with the Red Light District and coffee shops, but it is soooo much more than that. My husband and I tacked it on to another trip we were taking after many people told us that we HAD to visit Amsterdam, and I’m so happy we did. It was wonderful — we didn’t want to leave!

Thanks Lela, good to hear :). I will be going SOON. Well not soon but as soon as possible I suppose.

Amsterdam has never been at the top either, but it’s still on the list of places I’d love to visit. I like the history and buildings too.
