Versailles, French Voyage Part III

Versailles was everything we thought it would be.  Dripping in gold, with endless chandelier lined hallways and luxurious fabrics covering most surfaces.  The gardens were lush and enormous, and made me feel a little like I was in the middle of the maze.  But to be honest, we soon tired of the opulence (both our eyes and our feet), and we were ready to head back to Paris.  When we realized that we hadn’t yet seen the Petit Trianon, we reluctantly dragged ourselves over since we figured we would probably only have one chance.  After some renewed energy, we quickly became enamored with the Petite Trianon and the surrounding grounds, complete with cottages, sheep, and bunnies.  No wonder it was Marie Antoinette’s favorite residence. We didn’t blame her one bit.

Thanks Laura! Meg and I both shoot with a Canon Rebel T3 (i.e., the cheapest DSLR we could get our hands on) and a 50 mm 1.8 lens.

Is that swan alive? Loved the pics showing details of the “opulence!”
