Although I love West Elm, Pottery Barn, and Ikea as much as the next person, sometimes it is just slightly more special to purchase items that are handmade.  I have been browsing the world’s pillow options, and these beauties from Gypsya caught my eye.  When I started looking through her store, I realized that each item was just as gorgeous as the last (and often organic!).  That gold pillow (and maybe the lovely cuff) may be finding their way into my new home.  Friday is moving day.  Here’s to hoping we make it through in one piece. One / Two / Three / Four / Five / Six / Seven / Eight / Nine

Thanks Nicole and Laura! Nicole, I have a feeling it will be at least several years before the whole house is set up because my bank account would really hate me if I bought all the things I wanted anytime soon :). I can’t wait to show you guys more pictures of the house though!

Dear lord, the same stuff made in India at West Elm is also handmade, just by people laboring in unknown working conditions across the world. So is virtually all clothing, yet “handmade” seems to be a term we reserve for items made by people working in the developed world. Except, Gypsya isn’t making these items, they are also importing them, just like Pottery Barn and what not.

Gypsya is an importer; they aren’t designing or creating these items, so far as I can tell. Certainly not their quilts, which are identical to quilts sold through other import shops.

    Not Gypsya:

That’s why they are cheap, except, not surprisingly, you’re still getting a hefty mark up for that illusion that this might actually be made in Utah.
