Birthday

Happy Birthday Signage {DIY + Free Printables}

Since this year was a super special birthday for Meg, our friend Lauren and I wanted to do something a little extra for her birthday get together at her favorite mexican restaurant.  We decided upon some cute signage to add to the table as well as decorated cupcakes from her favorite cupcake shop.  I am a bit of a Photoshop novice, but my girl Pugly Pixel taught me how to make confetti, and I thought it would be the perfect addition to help design the paper products for Megan’s birthday festivities.  Lauren also made some of these adorable paper dot garlands using Oh Happy Day’s tutorial.

Birthday Place Cards and Wish Cards {Printables}

While brainstorming ideas for paper products, Lauren and I decided to have little place cards for each guest as well as a card for each person to make 3 wishes for Megan’s 30th year.  I was actually quite surprised by how excited everyone was to make their wishes for Megan.  It was a really sweet addition to the party.  This is not really a DIY because well, I’ve already done it for you :).  Just print the printables on card stock (preferably recycled) and cut out.  I punched a little heart in each card and tied them together with baker’s twine to be placed on every plate.  The only catch is that the Wish cards can only be used for someone celebrating their 30th birthday.  The place cards can be used for any birthday party.  Just write out the guests names in the little green square.

Happy Birthday Bunting {DIY + Printable)

I also made a little Happy Birthday Bunting to decorate the cupcakes (which we may or may not have recycled and used on Megan’s birthday cake on Sunday).  I once again designed it using my beloved confetti shapes and the same color scheme as the other printables.  Making the bunting is slightly more complicated than printing out the printable on card stock – but just barely.

What you’ll need:

– White card stock.  Extra credit for recycled :).

– Scissors

– Hole punch

– Pie pop sticks.  I found mine in the baking section at Michael’s.  You can also use straws.

– Baker’s twine or ribbon.

– Glue stick or fancy Martha Stewart glue pen (I just can’t resist her packaging).

What you’ll do:

1) Print out Happy Birthday Bunting pdf (below) on card stock.  Cut out all of the squares.

2) Each square should have a twin.  Match them up and glue together, making sure each side is face up.  Flatten with a book if the glue makes the letters a little wonky.

3) Punch a hole in both top corners of each letter.  Be careful that you don’t punch out the sides.

4) Thread twine through each of the letters so you have a separate strand for Happy and for Birthday.

5) Tie the ends of both strands to pie pop sticks (or straws).  Place in cake and admire your hard work.  Then proceed to eat said cake or cupcakes.
